Sweep and clean the roof of any sharp objects. Cans down nails or other sharp objects that can puncture or tear the rolled roofing material. Install any necessary metal flashing. Starting at the bottom edge (eaves) on the roof. Attach a chalk line 34 inches from the edge of the roof. Control a roof nail 2 inches from the top of the roll, spaced every 6 to 8 inches.
Lift the lower edge of roofing material and apply asphalt plastic cement with brush along the edge of the roof, hold down the bottom edge of the paper roll asphalt. Protection cover a chalk line 4 inches down from the top edge of the asphalt, you have just nailed down. Roll out a second layer of asphalt roof coating and line up its bottom edge with your chalk line.
Nail the upper edge of the second roller 2 inches from the top edge and then applying the asphalt cement plastic along the bottom edge, bonding the overlap down. Continue up the slope of the roof until you reach the top. Driving a roll of the asphalt along the top of the roof by half on one side of the top and the other half on the other.
